Why Eating Out Makes You Fat and Unhealthy

Why Eating Out Makes You Fat and UnhealthyEating out in a restaurant is not only convenient, but you also get to enjoy the company of those with you. Restaurant food is delicious, saves you time and energy and you also get to have great time with your family and friends. Eating out once in a while is good for you to free yourself from that hectic schedule of yours, but it is important that you don’t make a habit of eating out. Eating out regularly can be bad for your health. It can make you fat and unhealthy. There are a number of tricks that restaurants use to serve you really tasty but unhealthy food. Here’s a look at some of the ingredients or ‘tricks’ that can make you fat and unhealthy when you eat out regularly.

Butter

Restaurant food is amazingly good and one of the main reasons for this is the amount of butter present in the food. Whether it is the sauce, the meat, the veggies or the soup, butter is one of the tricks that restaurants use to make their food rich and tasty. Using butter is an easy way to make the food taste really good and some of these restaurants make use of loads of it and mind you that is pure saturated fat you are consuming. It is even worse for your health when restaurants substitute butter with margarine.

Cream

Another unhealthy ingredient that many of the restaurants use is cream. Cream is very common in desserts and they are also used in most soups and sauces. Cream is rich in artery-clogging saturated fat and high in calories as well. It is richer than milk and if you happen to go overboard with cream on a regular basis, it is your waistline and your health that will have to pay the price.

Oil and Frying

Food is made richer and tastier by adding a number of unhealthy ingredients and one of them is oil. While oil is important for cooking, adding too much of oil can be dangerous for your health and for your heart. Restaurants make use of different types of oils to add flavor to the food and in most cases, you don’t even know what type of oil has been used. If you get takeout food, you will notice that large amounts of oil collect at the bottom of the container by the time you eat. In small amounts, oil isn’t bad for your health, but in the case of fried foods and foods that contain more oil just for flavor and texture, they can be bad for you.

Animal fat

Did you know that your juicy hamburger and steak is tasty simply because of animal fat? It is just melted fat that make food tasty and juicy. No doubt animal fat is tasty, but it is the worst kind of fat for your health.

Salt

When you eat in a restaurant or a take out meal, you will find that salt is added in almost everything that is there. Even salads and desserts have salt in them to give them maximum flavor. As you know, high intake of slat can increase your blood pressure what can lead to heart attacks, strokes, dementia and kidney disease.
