Simple Beauty Ritual to Improve Self-Esteem and Love Life

Simple Beauty Ritual to Improve Self-Esteem and Love LifeDo you practice any sort of ritual that makes you feel good or brings you luck? Taking a Sunday-night bubble bath, crossing your fingers, tapping your cheeks before going out or spraying on certain perfume before a date or a meeting? There is definitely something to it.

According to a recent study conducted by Revlon and Fordham University, a woman’s daily beauty ritual can make her feel good and confident about herself and also can improve her love life.

“Rituals can be powerful – performing them can actually change the way you feel,” said Tracy Rohrbaugh, Marketing Vice President at Revlon. “Taking the time each day to appreciate yourself, especially what makes you unique, is a simple but effective way to create positive energy. This daily ritual can manifest more kindness, more affection, more flirting, and more love. Initiating this virtuous cycle helps the doer to both give and receive more love.”

If you want to see positive impact on your self-esteem and your love life do these 7 simple steps for a minimum of four days:

1. Look at yourself in the mirror.

2. Use your favorite fragrance.

3. Apply eye makeup.

4. Have a piece of chocolate.

5. Put on a lipstick (or gloss).

6. Take a deep breath.

7. Smile at yourself.

The Revlon “Love study” was conducted on 738 women in the U.S. with diverse backgrounds and ethnicities, aged from 18 to 49. The smaller group of 28 women, ages 21-43, were from Chicago and Rochester, while a nationally representative online panel of 710 women were taken through the same process. In both control groups, the women were surveyed before and after including the ritual into their daily routines. The findings of the study were very powerful.

Within the first week of adopting the ritual 97% of participants reported a significant positive change. 89% said they felt more confident and attractive, 71% felt an increased desire for romance, 69% were more open to finding love, 77% felt more outgoing and social, and 74% said they were more likely to flirt.

The study also found that the partners were more likely to respond in this case. It is interesting that 85 percent of the women noticed a positive change in how others reacted to them. They noted an increase in compliments from their partner or date (65%), and 56% confirmed that others flirted with them more often.

The results of this study clearly show that by simply performing several activities in a specific order over time, one can truly modify their outlook and mood. Rituals, unlike habits, are highly conscious, sensorial, and symbolically meaningful as they help transform emotional states. The study showed that women experienced a positive change after bringing the ritual into their daily routines proving that they are empowered to improve their love lives with a simple shift in mindset.
